Looking for tips, tricks or want to share some of the things you have done yourself? Feel free to post or peruse the posts here. Home ownership is not just a great investment in the future but a hell of a lotta responsibility. All the items from yard care to gutters, leaky basements, leaky faucets, refinishing floors, wall repair, painting tips, demolition and good basic tools and supplies required to compelete the common tasks round the new homestead.
While having had a few experiences as a result of being a tradesman for years it was fairly quickly on the new home adventure that I figured out there was alot to do. I researched yard care online, Jerry Baker and his yard tonics are excellent by the way if you have some common ailments he has some great options to cure them with household components, and a garden sprayer that can be picked up at the local hardware store. Some of the decisions on the project here have been quite simple to decide others have required some time and research to figure out just what would be the best, most cost efficient method to employ.
The current homestead was just a beautiful site when I first got into it, drop ceilings, 12×12 tiles above them and real nice pergo floors covering up some nice old oak floors which just needed to be refinished. The kitchen on the other hand was another story, and will be a later project covered here. I got fairly lucky with the bathroom, only had to repair the toilet so far though I am considering a one2flush.com product to reduce water usage there. Currently it seems as though the tile is loosening up so I believe a future installment on tile floor repair may be in the works. Will get some pictures up of the before, during and after of some of the projects, shortly.
